Robert Clark was convicted of abusing the girls between 1969 and 1985. He was also found guilty of hitting a young boy between 1969 and 1978.
The High Court in Glasgow heard the girls were aged six and seven, and the boy seven, when Clarke targeted them.
Judge Rita Rae QC deferred sentence and remanded him in custody. Clark was also placed on the sex offenders' register.
The court heard the incidents took place at different addresses in Airdrie, where Clark lived.
He was convicted of two charges of using lewd and libidinous practices and two separate accusations of assault.
The pensioner was also found guilty of hitting a young boy with a belt and punching him on various occasions.
Following the trial, judge Rae QC told Clark the victims had been subjected to "fear and intimidation" and that they had been abused in an "appalling way".
